Worked great although I would have given a 5 star had the struts been a little stronger. We had plans to add molle panels and accessories on the lift gate but I’m not sure these would be strong enough. For stock applications they are perfect.

Are the rear hatch struts on your 3rd gen 4runner worn out and not holding up the hatch anymore? Here is your fix!
This kit replaces the OEM rear hatch struts, upgrading the OEM plastic bushings with an aluminum set!
Unlike most aftermarket kits, these are actually strong enough to lift and hold the hatch!
Very simple to install! This kit installs in under 10 minutes using basic tools! This uses all the factory mounting brackets for the ease of installation!

They work great but they didn’t come with all the parts. I had to buy the metal insert.

Definitely stronger than the older ones but the aluminum bushing only fits 2000 and newer for 3rd gen. Put them on my 97 and the bushing was too big. Still works but idk how the wear and tear will be in the future
These work great! No more bumping my head. At first they went up just shy of all the way. I contacted AVR and the sent me another pair. Replaced one and still same result. Replaced the other one and worked perfect! Sometime you get a dud I understand but AVR immediately took care of me. Great company to work with and great product!
Great item, just to let customers know the amount of pressure this has. I have a gobi ladder and it didn't hold. Other than that great idea and easy to install

Easy to install but I did needed to drill the hole larger in my upper mount bracket to slide the aluminum bushing in.
Finally the read door stays open! Easy to install, took me 2 minutes to replace it.
I have owned my 1999 4Runner since new. I have been fighting the strut issues for years. Your struts are the best I’ve ever had, including OEM which never seemed to last. Thank you for designing a great product
These rear hatch struts for my 2000 4Runner perfectly. They installed quickly and make my rear hatch feel new again.
